Torgnon Pure Emotion
Sports and outdoors
Those in search of an exciting challenge and the pleasure that comes from effort, those who love putting themselves to the test and overcoming unexpected difficulties and those who love open-air sports and charming spaces, will find that Torgnon has something special to offer. During the summer months, but also in spring and autumn, a dense network of trails accompany the step as far as the peaks of Cima Bianca, Becca d’Aver, Méabé and Punta Tsan, to Col des Bornes or to the Lo Ditor pond. Many of these trails and countless shared access roads are also ideal for mountain bike excursions and outings on horseback. The more daring can try climbing rock walls and paragliding. Snow is the true protagonist in our mountains in winter. You just need to decide how you want to experience it.
Winter
Torgnon offers downhill ski lovers slopes which travel for 25 kilometres, all equipped with snowmaking systems. They are wide and safe trails able to welcome even the less expert skiers and children. Fun is also guaranteed for those who do competitive skiing or who love to show off their snowboarding skills.
The cross-country skiing trails, with panoramic rings of 3-5-7.5 -10 and 20 kilometres of variable difficulty, are among the most extended of the Aosta Valley. The Grandes Montagnes slope, which can also be reached by cable car, offers a unique view of the Matterhorn. The connection of La Maisonnette slope with the Verrayes slope guarantees a 40 km circuit which can be used with a single ticket. For beginners the starting point is the field of Plan Prorion.
LA MAISONNETTE
(3 -7,5 – 10 km.)
The Maisonnette slope offers a spectacular itinerary that is both fun and technical enough to satisfy different levels of skiers. The trail makes its way into the wood on a route which cuts across the side of the mountain and gradually climbs to the 1774 metres of Col des Bornes (turning point of the ring). Here the gaze opens onto the central valley. For the 10 km ring continue towards a clearing in the wood which returns to the hill and from there to the point of departure.
GRANDES MONTAGNES (20 km.)
From Plan Prorion heading north you reach the spectacular Grandes Montagnes slope (which is reached by cable car). It is a very long and completely beaten route which leads to the Lo Ditor pond and from there to Gilliarey.
The trail travels the shared access road which in summer takes to the mountain pastures and offers an enchanting landscape: to the right the residential area of Torgnon and opposite the Matterhorn. Having reached the lake you can continue along a good uphill section and reach Gilliarey (2169 metres), one of the most panoramic points of the entire area. To the south you can admire the valley floor, to the north the imposing shape of the Matterhorn, lower down the Valtournenche basin. From here Plateau Rosa with its eternal snow will seem within easy reach.
Our district offers lovers of this sport itineraries of the highest level, including mountains of a certain importance, like the Dome de Tsan.

Torgnon Nordic Walking Park develops on the ancient glacial terrace in naturalistic environments of rare beauty between broad-leaved woods in the lower areas, adjacent to the central part of the village, and pastures with coniferous woods in the upper area.
The routes are mainly developed on farm roads with natural or well-trodden ground and some sections on paths, suitable for the Nordic Walking technique, going to touch the most interesting points of the area.
In consideration of the orographic aspect of the village, the starting point of the tracks was identified at the picnic area of Plan Prorion, a place where you can leave your car and take advantage of the restaurant bar; there are also other access points to the Nordic Walking Park®, in the surroundings of the centre or near the hamlets.
The Park, connected with those of the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Denis and Verrayes, will make it possible to further increase its distances, with a well-marked network of itineraries between the valleys and a total development that certainly places it at the top of the national level.
There are 4 identified and marked routes, 3 of which can be closed in rings and classified in relation to the physical effort required and the length, with the difficulties Easy (1) Medium (2), Challenging (1).
Within the Park, 2 itineraries have also been identified for Winter Nordic Walking®, the winter practice of this activity.
